Roads Report: As noted previously, Roads Committee Chair, Joe Sandbank, is working to hire a replacement CDL driver. Until then, he is spread thin but getting to the roads that need work before winter as soon as he can. There were reports re: the condition of St. Joe, which was the highest priority this week. Joe has now completed (as of today 10/16) grading on St. Joe from the round-about all the way up to CDA. He did note that two sections still need some work + rock and that will be happening very shortly. He also said that if you have “no grading” signs on St. Joe, and there are potholes, they are about to be graded. This is critical to preparing for winter, and must be done, so FYI to those with signs out. In addition, vehicle maintenance + preparation for winter operations is now underway. Joe confirms we’re initially good on fuel in prep for winter as well. Joe also said that once the snow comes, the ground needs to freeze before we can safely and effectively run the plow over it. So, new homeowners especially, please be patient, plowing will start as soon as it is possible so it can be done correctly with care for protecting the roads. Also, Joe says SLOW DOWN. This protects the roads and your investment in them as well. Lastly, the homeowner from Lot 102 reported that the crown in the road that Joe is working to rebuild could potentially damage his trees near the gutter due to water from snow run-off in spring. Joe says this is unavoidable and must be dealt with by the property owner who is downhill from the road itself. This is an opportunity to once again say that now is the time to walk your property and review areas of need near the roads so you’re ready for seasonal changes. Cut branches imposing on roads ASAP. Email questions to roads@spiritlakeeast.org. For info + the roads form for reporting issues: www.spiritlakeeast.org/roads
