Icy Roads, Sanding & Evening Update
By Jon Dore
Approx. 8:30am - Good morning, SLE. With temp down this morning, it is icy, and the roads are very slick. They will be sanded. Until then, please use caution. If you do not need to be out, wait. We will provide an update as soon as we can.
Approx. 6:30pm - Hello SLE - To followup on my post this morning about the icy conditions, three truck loads of sand were distributed on our roads today (in the most in need spots).
We’re expecting lower temps and more snow tonight. So, now we’re ready for that too.
*** PLEASE DRIVE WITH CAUTION ***
Also, in our continued effort to help our community learn more about the processes behind road maintenance and repairs:
— We must use operators with CDLs (commercial drivers licenses) for plowing and sanding.
— We are limited on the amount of operators we can have on our insurance at any given time.
— Most CDL drivers are still working their regular jobs due to the unusual winter we’ve been having.
— Our lead operator drove our roads at 5am, assessed the need for sand, and worked to book one of our on-file operators.
— None were available until later today so our lead operator took off early to sand himself this afternoon.
— However, that means we now are set for tonight and tomorrow, and will likely not need to sand again.
— Our VP, Gus Ferguson, then drove the roads, and tested the usual areas of concern (including the hill on Hayden), breaking hard to test.
— If you don’t know Gus, he’s a longtime resident, and his seal of approval means something. THANKS, GUS.
— So, all spots have been addressed, and met our expectations. But we will continue to monitor.

Please understand that I don’t typically reply to individual messages unless absolutely necessary. But, I do read them all. That way, we can spend more time addressing the issues, and then I can report back to ALL.
If you email, please just include the facts: issue, date, time, location. That’s all I need.
Thanks for your patience during this season. We appreciate your input, as always. Have a good night and please…DRIVE SLOW. Jon
